i) From the Italian Government:
1. An Official and Public Apology by the Italian government for brutality inflicted.
2. An independent public inquiry in Italy into the police brutality.
3. Prosecution of all those involved in AND those responsible for the raids and all subsequent assaults and torture, and long sentences for all those convicted.
4. The disbandment of any 'special force' involved and/or the sacking of fascists from the police force.
5. Compensation for physical and psychological injuries.
6. Compensation for the cost of the deportation flight.
7. Rescinding of the 5 year ban on entering Italy as a 'threat to public order and national security'.
ii) From the British Government:
1. Condemnation of police violence from the Prime Minister.
2. Explanation as to why there was no consular visit to the detained for so long.
3. Support for an independent public inquiry in Italy.
Only in this way can the Italian state purge the taint of brutality and fascism from itself and restore its reputation as a democratic society. Only in this way can the British government refute the accusations that it colluded with the Italian state to deny its own citizens their democratic rights.
